How Can I Stop Zone Alarm From Blocking Mirc?

When I tried to connect to a server in mIRC zonalarm said it was trying to act as a server. I click allow but mIRC says that it is being blocked by zone alarm. In zone alarm I have gone into the program control pannel and given mIRC the highest trust level but mIRC still says it is being blocked. How can I stop zone alarm from blocking it without disabling zone alarm and without using a different firewall.
Apparently ZA has a habit of block IRC (or so i’ve read). Here’s the solution I found:
Open zonealarm and click IM security select settings from the top and click advanced. If the block irc is checked then uncheck it and that should fix it.
